No. 5 Virginia Hosts Navy to Open 2022-23 Season
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 5 Virginia men’s squash team opens the 2022-23 season on Tuesday, November 8 at 6 p.m. at the McArthur Squash Center.

NOTES ABOUT THE MATCH
- Virginia returns 11 players from its lineup last season, including the top six positions on the ladder.
- UVA starts the season ranked No. 5, matching its highest-ever ranking.
- The Cavaliers finished 12-8 overall last season and were 8-1 in matches played at home.
- Senior All-American Aly Hussein returns as the reigning MASC Player of the Year after finishing 16-3 at the No. 1 position.
- Senior Omar El Torkey was 13-4 at the No. 2 position last season to earn CSA All-America honors.
- The duo of Hussein and El Torkey competed in the first and second positions for the Cavaliers and each earned a bid to the Pool Trophy, the A division of the CSA Individual Championships. Competing at the top of the ladder for the Hoos, the duo combined for 30 wins and just 10 losses on the season.
- Head coach Mark Allen was named 2021-22 MASC Coach of the Year.
- The Cavaliers earned their second consecutive bid to the Potter Cup, the A division of the CSA Team Championships, and finished the season as the No. 8 team in the country.
