DURHAM, N.C. – A group of Virginia throwers opened competition at the Duke Invitational on Thursday (April 6) led by Janae Profit’s runner-up finish in the discus as three Cavaliers posted personal bests at Morris Williams Stadium in Durham, N.C.

Profit recorded her second personal-best mark of the season in the women’s discus throwing 51.24 meters (168’1”) to place second overall in the event. The performance places Profit at No. 10 all-time at Virginia in the women’s discus. Kaiya Saunders placed fourth in the event throwing a personal-best of her own of 50.16 meters (164’7”).

Jada Marsh posted a personal best in the women’s hammer throw marking 55.19 meters (181’1”). The mark ranks at No. 5 on the Virginia all-time performance list. On the men’s side, John Fay posted a mark of 57.80 meters (189’7”) in the hammer throw.

The Cavaliers will resume action at the Duke Invitational tomorrow (April 7) while the Virginia sprinters will begin competition at the Spec Towns Invitational in Athens, Georgia.
