Dickson Garners ACC Weekly Honors
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia attackman Xander Dickson has been named the ACC’s Offensive Player of the Week for games played April 17-23, the conference office announced on Tuesday (April 25). The award marks Dickson’s second ACC weekly honor of the season.
Dickson tied his career highs in both goals (7) and points (2) in the Cavaliers’ 19-12 defeat over No. 13 Syracuse at Klöckner Stadium this past Saturday (April 22). Dickson’s seven goals are the most by any ACC player in a league game this season and his nine points were the most by any ACC player last week. His seven goals also tied for No. 2 all-time in UVA single game history and marked the fourth contest this season in which scored at least six goals. His fifth goal of the day, which was unassisted at the 11:36 mark in the third quarter, proved to be the game-winning goal, his second of the year. Dickson also tallied five ground balls and one caused turnover in Virginia’s third ACC win of the year.
Dickson’s 48 goals on the season are currently good for No. 2 in the nation and are tied for seventh on UVA’s single season goals list. He is currently averaging 4.00 goals per game.
Notre Dame goalie Liam Entenmann was named the ACC’s Defensive Player of the Week.
No. 3 Virginia (9-3, 3-2 ACC) returns to action on Tuesday (April 25) when the Cavaliers travel to Lafayette (6-8, 3-5 Patriot). Opening faceoff from Fisher Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m. on ESPN+. On Sunday (April 30), Virginia hosts top-ranked Notre Dame (9-1, 3-1 ACC) at 2 p.m. on ACC Network for the Cavaliers’ Senior Day.
