Day One of the Orange & Blue Classic
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Members of the Virginia men’s tennis team will be competing this weekend at the lone home tournament of the fall, the Orange & Blue Classic being held Friday through Sunday, Sept. 22-24, at the Boar’s Head Sports Club.
The Cavaliers picked up six singles victories and two doubles wins on the first day of action.
Players from Vanderbilt, Penn, Virginia Tech and Virginia will be competing as individuals in the tournament in singles and doubles matches.
Action begins at 10 a.m. with two waves of matches. The Cavaliers will play primarily at 10 a.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday.
The matches are free and open to the public.
The matches are scheduled to be played at the outdoor courts of the Virginia Tennis Facility, but will be moved indoors in case of inclement weather. Please monitor the Virginia men’s tennis social media accounts for updates.
Live video streams will be available for matches played outdoors.
FRIDAY
The Cavaliers won six of seven singles matches and two of their three doubles contests against players from Vanderbilt. Dylan Dietrich made his collegiate debut, downing Michael Ross in a three-set match. Stefan Regalia picked up his first collegiate victory, topping Paul Wang 6-0, 6-2.
