SANTIAGO, Chile – Virginia swimming alum Paige Madden and junior Jack Aikins both added gold medals to their haul on Monday (Oct. 23) at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile.

Madden won her second individual gold of the meet with her win in the 800-meter freestyle. Madden led a 1-2 finish for Team USA in the event with her time of 8:27.99. She swept her two individual events, also winning gold in the 400-meter freestyle.

Aikins earned gold as part of the mixed 4×100-meter medley relay. He swam on the prelims squad, leading off with the backstroke leg as Team USA was the top qualifier heading into finals.

Senior Noah Nichols closed out his meet with a fifth-place finish in the men’s 200-meter breaststroke. Nichols clocked a time of 2:14.23.

Sophomore Emma Weber and senior Anna Keating finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the women’s 200-meter breaststroke. Weber swam a 2:31.01 and Keating finished in 2:31.14.
