CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –  Virginia men’s tennis senior Chris Rodesch was named the ACC Men’s Tennis Co-Player of the Week as well as being named the Doubles Team of the Week with senior Jeffrey von der Schulenburg in honors announced Tuesday (Jan. 23) by the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Rodesch defeated No. 1 Eliot Spizzirri of Texas 6-3, 6-3, last Thursday in the Cavaliers’ 4-3 road win at No. 3 Texas. Spizzirri was the 2023 ITA National Player of the Year and is ranked No. 1 in the current ITA Singles Rankings. It was the highest-ranked win of Rodesch’s career and his third career victory against a player ranked in the top five.

Rodesch and von der Schulenburg picked up two victories on the No. 2 doubles court. They topped the Texas duo of Pierre-Yves Bailly and Siem Woldeab 6-4 and the South Carolina tandem of Jelani Sarr and Lucas da Silva 6-1 to help the Cavaliers earn the doubles point in both matches.

This is the second straight weekly honor for a Cavalier after James Hopper was named the ACC Player of the Week last week (Jan. 16).

This is Rodesch’s seventh career ACC Player of the Week honor and his fourth doubles accolade. This is von der Schulenburg’s fourth career weekly honor.
