PHILADELPHIA – The No. 5 Virginia women’s squash team (10-2) opened play at the 2024 Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference Championships with a 9-0 victory against No. 21 Franklin & Marshall on Friday (Feb. 9) at the Arlen Specter U.S. Squash Center in Philadelphia, Pa.
The Cavaliers tallied their fourth-straight shutout victory and blanked the Diplomats for the second time this season.
Virginia won all nine positions and the exhibition court by 3-0 scores.
Senior Meagan Best logged a dominant 11-1, 11-3, 11-1 victory at the top of the ladder. Senior Erin O’Connor logged an 11-2, 11-1, 11-2 win at nine. Junior Annabelle MacTaggart won her exhibition match 11-1, 11-1, 11-0.
The six teams of the MASC are broken up into Group 1 and Group 2. Top-seeded Virginia anchors Group 1 and faces the 4 and 5 seeds in Group Play. Virginia next faces 4-seed Georgetown on Saturday (Feb. 10) at 4 p.m.
The winners of Group 1 and Group 2 will compete against one another in the championship match on Sunday (Feb. 11) at 12 p.m.
