CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –  Virginia senior Chris Rodesch has been named ACC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week and first-year Dylan Dietrich has been named the ACC Men’s Tennis Freshman of the Week in honors announced Tuesday (Feb. 20) by the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Rodesch clinched the 5-1 win for No. 6 Virginia against No. 5 Tennessee in the ITA Indoors quarterfinals with a three-set win against No. 9 Johannus Monday, his second top 10 victory this month. He also clinched the doubles point in the win against No. 13 Duke in the opening round with a 6-3 win over 11th-ranked pair Michael Heller and Andrew Zhang with his partner Jeffrey von der Schulenurg. The 19th-ranked senior notched a straight-set win over the Blue Devils’ No. 47 Pedro Rodenas.

Dietrich posted the highest-ranked win of his career in the ITA Indoor quarterfinals against Tennessee’s No. 16 Shunsuke Mitsui (6-3, 6-2) to help lead Virginia to the ITA Indoor semifinals. The native of Zurich, Switzerland, defeated Duke’s Garrett Johns in straight sets. He was also even at 1-1 with No. 25 Justin Boulais of top-ranked Ohio State before the match was clinched.

These are Virginia’s fifth and sixth overall weekly honors this season. This is Rodesch’s second ACC Player of the Week honor and Dietrich’s third ACC Freshman of the Week. James Hopper (Jan. 16) has also been named ACC Player of the Week and Rodesch and Jeffrey von der Schulenburg (Jan. 23) earned doubles team honors.
