CLEMSON, S.C. – The No. 3 Virginia men’s tennis team (19-4, 11-0 ACC) picked up a 5-2 victory at Clemson (12-13, 3-8 ACC) on Thursday (April 11) at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility in Clemson, S.C.
The Cavaliers won the doubles point to take an early 1-0 lead. The Tigers tied the match at 1-1, but Virginia won five straight singles matches to take a 5-1 lead. Senior Alexander Kiefer won the clinching point.
Kiefer and freshman Dylan Dietrich opened the match with a 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles. Senior Iñaki Montes and grad student Edoardo Graziani clinched the point with a 7-5 victory at two.
Clemson tied the match with a win at the No. 4 singles court. Minutes later, senior Jeffrey von der Schulenburg put UVA back in the lead with a 6-1, 6-4 victory on court two. Senior Chris Rodesch followed with a 7-6 (5), 6-1 win on the top court. Kiefer clinched the victory with a 6-3, 6-3 win against Matt Pitts on court five. Dietrich added a fifth point with a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 3. Clemson closed out the match with a win on court six.

ON THE HORIZON
- Virginia closes out the regular season on Saturday, playing at Georgia Tech at 12 p.m.
- The postseason kicks off with the ACC Championships, being held April 17-21 at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.
