Cagle, Godfrey Named Preseason All-ACC Selections
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Maggie Cagle and Lia Godfrey have been named to the preseason All-ACC women’s soccer team, it was announced on Thursday (Aug. 8). The preseason All-ACC team is determined by a vote of the league’s coaches.
Cagle is a two-time All-ACC selection and a rising junior for the Cavaliers. She has 12 career goals and 19 career assists through her two seasons. Last year, Cagle tied for the team lead in goals with eight and led the squad with seven assists.
Godfrey returns to the pitch after being sidelined with injury for the 2023 season. A three-time All-America and All-ACC selection, Godfrey has 15 career goals and 26 career assists for the Cavaliers and has been an anchor in the midfield in her career. She was a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy in the 2022 season
The Cavaliers will host Georgetown in an exhibition on Saturday night (Aug. 10) at 7:30 p.m. Admission to the exhibition is free to the public.
Virginia officially opens its season on Thursday, Aug. 15, against Towson. Kick is set for 7 p.m. and tickets are on sale at UVATix.com.
