CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – A pair of Virginia women’s soccer players earned weekly honors from the ACC this week as Maggie Cagle was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week and Victoria Safradin was named Defensive Player of the Week by the league office on Tuesday (Aug. 27).

The Cavaliers went undefeated on the week with a 2-1 victory at No. 3 Penn State on Thursday and a 5-0 victory over Utah Valley on Sunday.

Cagle scored both goals in the win over the Nittany Lions, sparking the come-from-behind win with the second half rally. She hit the first goal in the 54th minute to tie the game and scored again 12 minutes later on a penalty kick. It marks the highest ranked win by an ACC team at this point in the season.

Safradin made a career-high six saves in the game against the Nittany Lions as she faced a career-high 20 shots. She made four of her six saves in the final 24 minutes of play as she kept the Cavaliers in the lead for the victory over the nation’s third-ranked team. She then played 68 minutes of shutout soccer in Virginia’s win over Utah Valley on Sunday.

The Cavaliers return to action this weekend when Virginia (4-0-0) travels to face JMU (1-1-2) in a 6 p.m. contest on Sunday (Sept. 1).
