No. 2 Virginia Opens ACC Play At Miami
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 2 Virginia women’s soccer team (7-0-0, 0-0-0 ACC) hits the road to open conference play on Thursday (Sept. 12) as the Hoos head south to face Miami (3-2-1, 0-0-0 ACC). Kick is set for 7 p.m.

- The Cavaliers moved up to No. 2 in the latest United Soccer Coaches rankings following a pair of shutout victories on the road at VCU and at home vs. Howard to close non-conference play
- The ranking of No. 2 is the highest for UVA since the 2021 NCAA Tournament when the Hoos has been No. 1 nationally prior to a 1-0 loss to then No. 2 FSU in the ACC Championship final
- Maggie Cagle hit the game-winning goal at VCU for her 17th career goal and eighth game winner. She has it the game-winning goal in two of the last three contests for the Cavaliers

- Allie Ross came on strong in the Hoos’ win over Howard, tallying a goal and an assist
- Virginia has posted six shutouts through the first seven games this season have allowed only 42 shots – 10 of them on frame – with 20 of those shots coming in one game at No. 3 Penn State.
- UVA finished its non-conference slate at 7-0-0 and is one of seven teams to be unbeaten or untied
- The Virginia offense has been in a full press with 129 shots and 19 goals scored this season. Nearly half of the shots have been on goal as the Cavaliers average almost three goals per game
- Cagle has been efficient as the UVA goal leader with 8-of-18 shots on frame through seven game

- UVA and Miami have faced each other 19 times with the Cavaliers holding a 16-2-1 lead in the all-time series
- The teams last met in 2023 when Virginia picked up a 1-0 win over the Hurricanes
- The last two games have been 1-0 victories for the Hoos, while five of the last six contests have been shutouts by the Cavaliers
- Virginia is 5-2-0 in games played at Cobb Stadium with losses in the 2006 and 2016 seasons
