The Series with Stanford

  • This matchup will mark just the fourth meeting between all-time between Virginia and Stanford. The Cavaliers trail the series with a record of 1-2 against the Cardinal.
  • This will mark just the second meeting between the schools at Klöckner Stadium — the last time the teams met at Klöckner marked the final game of Associate Head Coach Matt Chulis’ playing career at UVA.
  • Each of the last two meetings between the schools have taken place in the NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship.

Facing No. 2 in the Nation

  • The Cardinal will arrive at Klöckner Stadium as the No. 2 team in the nation. Virginia is 20-21-11 all-time in games against teams ranked in the top-two. UVA is 12-13-6 when facing specifically the No. 2 team in the national poll.
  • A win for Virginia would mark just the third in program history when facing a top-two team while being unranked themselves. The Cavaliers are 2-9-0 in such situations.
  • The last time UVA faced off with the No. 2 team in the nation was in 2022 — a scoreless draw with Duke at Klöckner Stadium.
