CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – ACC Tournament runner-up Virginia (29-5) is the No. 3 seed in the NCAA Midwest Region for the 2026 NCAA Tournament.
The Cavaliers will face No. 14 seed Wright State (23-11) in an NCAA Tournament first-round game on Friday, March 20 at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, Pa. Tip time is set for 1:50 p.m. on TBS.
UVA will make its 27th overall NCAA Tournament appearance and first since earning a No. 10 seed and First Four berth in the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
The winner of the Virginia-Wright State first-round game will meet No. 6 seed Tennessee (22-11), No. 11 seed Miami (OH) (31-1) or No. 11 seed SMU (20-13) on Sunday, March 22.
Virginia has compiled a 35-25 all-time record in 26 NCAA Tournament appearances. The Cavaliers went 35-3 en route to the 2019 NCAA championship. UVA also advanced to the NCAA Final Four in 1981 and 1984.
Dean and Markel Families Men’s Head Basketball Coach Ryan Odom will guide his fifth team into NCAA postseason action. He led VCU (2025), Utah State (2023), UMBC (2018) and Lenoir-Rhyne (2016) to the NCAA Tournament.
Ticket Information
The NCAA has provided a limited number of tickets to schools participating in the NCAA tournament. As a result, fans are encouraged to purchase tickets through the NCAA as only Virginia Athletics Foundation donors and 2025-26 men’s basketball season ticket members will have the opportunity to request tickets from the Virginia Athletics ticket office in UVA’s block.
Requests for the limited number of seats will be filled according to Virginia Athletics Foundation priority points order. Donors and season ticket members who place a request will be notified by email Monday evening the status of their request. All fulfilled requests are non-refundable. All tickets for the 2026 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament will be delivered electronically.
