ATLANTA – Virginia won two relays on the opening night of the 2026 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships, being held March 18-21 at the McCauley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Ga.
The Cavaliers won two of the three events on the first day of competition.
Sophomore Katie Grimes took bronze in the opening event of the meet, the 1650 Free (15:42.65).
Sara Curtis, Emma Weber, Claire Curzan and Bryn Greenwaldt followed with the gold in the 200 Medley Relay (1:31.67). Aimee Canny, Madi Mintenko, Bailey Hartman and Anna Moesch won the 800 Free Relay (6:45.21) to close out the night.
Virginia sits in first place heading into the second day of the competition.
Thursday's events will be the 100 Fly, 400 IM, 200 Free, 100 Breast, 1 Meter Diving and the 200 Free Relay.
Prelims start at 10 a.m. with finals at 6 p.m.
MEET NOTES
- Virginia now owns the 10 fastest times in the 200 Medley Relay
- These were the first career NCAA titles for Sara Curtis, Emma Weber, Bryn Greenwaldt, Madi Mintenko and Bailey Hartman
- The 800 Free Relay time was an NCAA Championship meet record
- Anna Moesch's split of 1:39.03 on the anchor leg of the 800 Free Relay was the fastest relay split of all time
- Cavan Gormsen finished 13th in the 1650 Free
