ATLANTA – Virginia added to its team lead by winning two events on the second night of the 2026 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships, being held March 18-21 at the McCauley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Ga.
Sophomore Anna Moesch picked up the first NCAA individual event title of her career with a victory in the 200 Free. Moesch’s time of 1:39.23 makes her the second fastest performer ever in the event, just .13 seconds shy of Missy Franklin’s 11-year-old record in the event.
The Cavaliers closed out the session with a victory in the 200 Free Relay. Moesch, junior Claire Curzan, grad student Bryn Greenwaldt, and freshman Sara Curtis posted a time of 1:24.11 to win the title.
In other action, Curzan took silver in the 100 Fly, being edged by .06 seconds by Stanford’s Torri Huske.
Sophomore Katie Grimes had her second podium finish of the meet, finishing fifth in the 400 IM (4:01.41). Senior Aimee Canny finished eighth (4:05.16).
Freshman Madi Mintenko and senior Emma Weber also competed in A Finals. Mintenko finished fifth in the 200 Free (1:41.67) and Weber 7th in the 100 Breast (58.21).
Virginia sits in first place heading into the third day of the four-day competition. The Cavaliers have 249 points. Texas is in second place with 183 points and Stanford third with 173.
Friday's events will be the 100 Back, 200 Breast, 500 Free, 50 Free and 400 Medley Relay.
Prelims start at 10 a.m. with finals at 6 p.m.
