• Blanding’s eight tackles on the day moved the junior into 12th all-time in career tackles at UVA with 321. He passed P.J. Killian (316) to move into possession of the number 12 spot on the list.
• Doni Dowling’s two receiving touchdowns were a career high, marking his first career multi-touchdown game.

– Louisville is 3-2 all-time versus Virginia after today’s win.

– Head coach Bobby Petrino is 2-1 all-time versus Virginia.

– Since joining the ACC, the Cards have won two of the first three meetings.

– The win extended the Cards winning streak to two games over the Cavaliers.

– Today’s win was the fi rst over the Cavaliers in Charlottesville.

TEAM NOTES

– Virginia won the toss and elected to receive – the first time this season the Cards opened the game on defense. Louisville has won its last 14 games when kicking off first.

– Louisville improved to 5-1 in the ACC for the fi rst time in its third year in the league.

– The Cardinals failed to score on their opening drive for the second-straight contest. Louisville trailed for the first time after the fi rst quarter – trailing Virginia 10-7.

– Louisville, which has scored 108 fi rst-quarter points this season, has scored seven or fewer points in the first stanza in four the last five games.

– The Cardinals were held without a point in the second quarter for the first time this season.

– With two interceptions versus Virginia, the Cards have recorded an interception in seven straight games.

– The Cardinals trailed at the half for the second time this season. UofL was behind 28-10 at Clemson at the break before scoring the next 26 points in the game.

– Louisville totaled 508 total yards of offense versus Virginia, the 10th-straight game of over 400 yards of offense and the sixth time this season surpassing 500 yards. The Cardinals have amassed over 500 yards in total offense in eight of the last nine games.

PLAYER NOTES

– Redshirt freshman linebacker Jonathan Greenard made his first career start in place of linebacker Devonte Fields, who missed the game due to injury.

– QB Lamar Jackson has thrown at least one touchdown pass in 11-straight games. His four TD passes today marked the fourth time this season he has had three or more TD passes and the fi fth of his career.

– Entering the game with 18 touchdown passes this season, Jackson has 22 for the season, which is ninth on the school’s single-season list and 34 for his career, which ties him for eighth.

– With four more touchdowns today, Jackson extends his school record for touchdowns responsible for to 38 this year and 61 for his career.

– With 451 yards of total offense today, Jackson has 3,520 yards on the season, which ranks as the seventh-most at UofL for a single season.

– With 90 rushing yards today, Jackson moved within two yards of becoming the 18th Louisville player to rush for 1,000 yards in a season. He has 998 this year.

– CB Jaire Alexander picked off two passes in the game, his fifth interceptions this season and the sixth of his career in the second quarter. He previously had interceptions against Syracuse and Clemson (2) this season.

– WR Jamari Staples led the Cards in receiving with seven catches for 120 yards – his second 100-yard game this season and the fourth of his career. He matched his single-game season high with the seven receptions, including fi ve in the first half.

– WR Traveon Samuel caught a season-best five passes

— one below his career high — for 69 yards — which is a new career-best for yards in a game.

– WR Reggie Bonnafon caught two touchdown passes in the game, doubling his total to four this season. It was his first since scoring a TD in the win over Marshall on Sept. 24.

– CB Trumaine Washington produced a season-high seven tackles, the fourth game of his career with fi ve or more stops.

– S Chucky Williams led the Cards with a season-high eight tackles.

– K Blanton Creque booted a 32-yard fi eld goal in the fourth quarter, connecting on his eighth straight attempt.

– TE Cole Hikutini had six receptions for 89 yards, including a key reception on fourth down with a minute to go in the game. It was the third time in the last four games that he has had six or more receptions.
