- The Cavaliers improved to 75-21-7 all-time in home openers and 81-38-9 all-time in season openers
- Head coach Bronco Mendenhall improved to 9-4 in season openers (1-1 at UVA & 8-3 at BYU)

- QB Kurt Benkert went 27-of-39 for 262 yards and three TDs
- Benkert has thrown three or more TDs in five games at UVA
- HB Olamide Zaccheaus tallied his ninth career receiving TD with a 17-yarder in the third quarter
- Zaccheaus (5 catches, 56 yards) extended his reception streak to 17 games
- RB Jordan Ellis set career highs in rushes (20) and rushing yards (80)
- Ellis added a pair of TDs (1 rushing, 1 receiving)
- Andre Levrone’s 34-yard TD reception marked his third career receiving TD (first since freshman season in 2014)
