No. 5 Virginia Falls 8-1 to No. 2 Penn
BALTIM0RE, Md. – The No. 5 Virginia men’s squash team (13-4) fell 8-1 to No. 2 Penn (15-1) on Thursday afternoon at the Calvert School.
UVA’s lone win came at the No. 1 position on the ladder as Aly Hussein won 3-0, dropping just four points in the first two games. Hussein has won his last 10 matches and is 12-1 on the season.
Max Velazquez picked up an exhibition win at the 10 position, coming back to win 3-1 after dropping the first game.
Two of the matches went to full five games. At No. 2, UVA’s Omar El Torkey battled in a 3-2 loss. El Torky won the second and fourth games to force the fifth but eventually fell 11-6.
Cullen Little won his first two games but Penn’s Omar Hafez came back to win the next three and take the match 3-2 at four.
JP Tew and Myles McIntyre both fell in 3-1 matches at three and seven, respectively.
