Ramon W. Breeden Jr. Videoboard & Custom Point-Source Audio System
The most noticeable change to Scott Stadium is the brand new 6,700-square-foot Ramon W. Breeden Jr. Videoboard, which replaces the previous ‘Hoo Vision’ board that was installed at the Carl Smith Center in 2009, and elevates Virginia into the upper echelon of college football in this space. Additionally, every piece of sound equipment has been replaced to provide clear, intelligible sound.
The new Hoo Vision experience will allow for a continuously evolving, customizable combination of display options to provide flexibility for all current and future trends.
The standard in-game display features a main content area showing live action, instant replays, graphics and video. Additionally, there is a side content area featuring team stats and other game information as well as a dynamic pop-out panel for individual player statistics. Following big plays or moments, fans can anticipate the screen to transition to a full-screen video view. Additionally, the game-in-progress (clock, down and distance, etc) information now is included on the display in a bottom stripe and live closed captioning is now featured on the bottom of the display.
Other layouts on the video board include a new “tempo box,” which allow for live game action and instant replays to display simultaneously when necessary. Additionally, new game and play clocks have been installed throughout Scott Stadium. In response to fan feedback, the east and west end caps of the ribbon boards will now permanently display scores from around the country.
