Ethan Robinson

Ethan Robinson joined the Virginia Cross Country and Track and Field staff as an assistant coach in the summer of 2025 after a successful career for the Cavaliers.

Continuing his first year success into the 2026 Outdoor Track & Field season, Robinson led multi event athlete Elsa Spoor to All-ACC first team and second team honors. Spoor finished third in the heptahtlon scoring a new personal best and Virginia No.3 total of 5472 points. She recorded a personal or season best in five of eight events. Spoor also recorded All-ACC honors in the high jump competition with a sixth place finish. Under Robinson's direction, Spoor qualified for the NCAA East First Round where she finished 24th equaling her personal best of 1.76m. 

In her ACC Outdoor debut, freshman Cassie Callis finished seventh in heptahtlon with 5247 points. Callis qualified for the USATF U20 Outdoor Championships where she finished third with a personal best of 5318 points.

The 2025-26 indoor track & field season proved successful for the combined events group as Cassie Callis, Elsa Spoor and Henry Sullivan garnered All-ACC accolades. Spoor earned the bronze medal in the women’s petathlon scoring a personal-best 3841 points and ranks No. 6 all-time in program history. Just a freshman, Callis finished fifth in the women’s pentathlon scoring a personal best of 3748 points to break the freshman record and rank No. 8 all-time in program history. Scoring a total of 5406 points, Sullivan finished sixth in the men’s heptathlon and recorded a personal best in four of seven events (shot put, 60m hurdles, pole vault, 1000m). In his collegiate debut, freshman Garrett McNeil tallied 5198 points in the men’s heptathlon to become No. 4 all-time and No. 3 among freshmen in program history.

As a student-athlete, Robinson won the bronze medal and broke the school record at the 2025 ACC Indoor Championships scoring a new personal best of 5747 points in the heptathlon. He also secured the bronze medal at the ACC Outdoor Championships scoring a total of 7435 points in the decathlon. His personal best of 7603 points in the decathlon ranks No. 4 all-time in program history. Robinson is a five-time All-ACC recently graduated with a degree in history.
