Virginia Wins Three Heats on First Day of ACC Championships

CLEMSON, S.C.-The No. 5 Virginia rowing team won all three of its heats on the first day of the ACC Championships Friday evening (May 16) on Lake Hartwell.
UVa will be the top seed in all four grand finals Saturday morning (May 17). Action begins at 8 a.m. and live video will be available at TheACC.com. Virginia has won the last four conference titles and 13 of the 14 ACC regattas.
Virginia’s Varsity Eight faced some tough weather conditions, but finished first in its heat and had the top time overall in 6:42.7. The Cavalier Second Varsity Eight also posted the fastest mark out of two heats in 6:42.4, while the UVa Varsity Four rowed the best time in 7:38.8.
The first race Saturday will be the final of the Third Varsity Eight at 8:02 a.m., followed by Petite and Grand Finals for the Varsity Four, Second Varsity Eight and Varsity Eight.
