2014 – One of 10 cavaliers to start all 12 games of the season … finished the regular season No. 2 in the ACC with 9.0 sacks … finished the regular season No. 7 in the ACC with 12.5 tackles for loss … along with teammate Henry Coley, led the ACC’s linebackers and defensive backs with 12.5 tackles for loss … part of a defense that helped limit the nation’s No. 5 rusher (Pitt’s James Conner) and its No. 12 rusher (Miami’s Duke Johnson) under 100 yards rushing each and their lowest outputs of the season … finished the year with 55 tackles and eight pass breakups from the line of scrimmage … collected his first career interception against Pitt and returned it 35 yards for a touchdown … forced a team-high three fumbles … recorded six tackles, including 2.0 sacks in the season opener against No. 7 UCLA … notched four stops, including 1.5 sacks for a loss of 11 yards against the Richmond Spiders … made four stops and broke up four passes in an ACC win over No. 21 Louisville … made five stops, including 1.0 sack for a loss of 10 at No. 21 BYU … notched three tackles and broke up one pass against Kent State … made two tackles at Duke … broke up a pass and made four stops against North Carolina … made nine tackles, including two for a combined loss of eight yards at Georgia Tech … had seven stops, including a season-high 3.0 sacks for a total loss of 15 yards, and forced one fumble in a home victory over Miami … was named College Football Performance Awards National Linebacker of the Week for his efforts against the Hurricanes … tallied six tackles, including 1.0 sack for a loss of five yards at Virginia Tech in the season finale. 2013 – Appeared in 10 of UVa’s 12 games … missed UVa’s first two contests against BYU and Oregon … made four starts … was UVa’s defensive scout team player of the week for the BYU game when he imitated BYU All-American Kyle Van Noy … one of twelve true freshmen to get playing time this season … made collegiate debut and recorded one pass breakup against VMI … notched first career start at Pitt … made first career stop against the Panthers and finished with five tackles including a career-high 2.5 sacks on the way to being named an honorable mention honoree as CFPA’s linebacker of the week … had three tackles and broke up two passes against Ball State … recorded five tackles and recovered one fumble against Georgia Tech … recorded three tackles and a recovered fumble against Georgia Tech … notched a career-high six tackles including 1.5 sacks for a total loss of 17 yards against Virginia Tech … forced one fumble and broke up one pass against the Hokies.

Was a 2012 signee with Virginia before attending Fork Union Military Academy for a post-graduate season … played wide receiver, defensive end and safety for head coach Paul Sacco at St. Joseph High School in Hammonton, N.J. … finished 2011 with 13 catches for 204 yards and four touchdowns … on defense had 33 tackles and seven sacks … grabbed one interception, caused three fumbles and recovered one … part of a defense that allowed only 17 points the entire season (1 rushing TD, 1 passing TD & 1 FG) … member of three state championship teams, including 2011 with a 10-0 record … All-South Jersey … all-state … Press Athlete of the Fall … named All-Cape-Atlantic League … Philadelphia Inquirer South Jersey Defensive Player of the Year … also a All-Cape-Atlantic performer as an outfielder for the St. Joseph baseball team … son of Paul and Pamela Valles … has two older brothers, Andre, and Hakeem, a sophomore in 2012 on the football team at FCS Monmouth … volunteers at the St. Joseph eighth grade football camp … plans to major in criminal justice.
