Cavalier on Horseback

After 21 years of service to Virginia Football, Kim Kirschnick has stepped down from his role as the mounted Cavalier on horseback. This is an important and very visible component of Virginia Football game days. The department of athletics is currently seeking to fill the position of our next Cavalier on horseback.

Interested candidates must be able to commit to all seven (7) home games in 2022 and will need a support staff of at least five (5) individuals to assist on game days. Ideally, this support staff is consistent from game to game.

In addition to game day responsibilities, the Cavalier and horse should be available for a band practice session each home week and a stadium walk-through the evening before each home game.
