REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.–The No. 2 Virginia rowing team captured three wins out of four races against No. 4 California Sunday morning (March 29) at the Pac-12 Challenge on Redwood Shores.
“We showed great team depth this weekend winning 10 of 12 races against fast west coast competition,” UVa head coach Kevin Sauer said. “Stanford’s and especially Cal’s Varsity Eights are very good, so we will need to respond to their speed. Thanks to Stanford for hosting.”
Cal won the Varsity Eight race, 6:16.74-6:23.7, but the Cavaliers were victorious in the Second Varsity Eight, 6:26.2-6:30.2, the Varsity Four, 7:15.9-7:18.8 and the Second Varsity Four, 7:18.1-7:20.9.
Overall, the Cavaliers won 10 of 12 races this weekend.Â
Next up, the Cavaliers host the ACC/Big Ten Challenge as well as Navy on Lake Monticello on April 4. The Cavaliers will face off against Big Ten schools Ohio State and Michigan as well as the Midshipmen. Clemson will also be representing the ACC at the regatta. The first race is set to start at 9 a.m.
