CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – No. 8 Virginia (20-2, 5-2 ACC) defeated Florida State (12-10, 3-4 ACC), 3-2 in walk-off fashion on Friday (March 24) at Disharoon Park. The Cavaliers scored the tying run in the bottom of the ninth and went on to win it in the 10th on a Seminole fielding error.
With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, freshman Harrison Didawick worked a seven-pitch walk to get the tying run on base. He advanced to third on a Griff O’Ferrall single and subsequent FSU fielding error. Didawick then scored the tying run on a wild pitch to send the game into extra innings.
That set the stage for pinch-hitter Chris Baker in the 10th who grounded a ball up the middle that was mishandled, allowing Ethan Anderson to score from second base.
