CAREER: Dual sport athlete at Hillsdale, running track (sprints) and a member of the football team … played in eight games on the gridiron. 2023: Earned the Division 2 Athletics Directors Association Academic Achievement Award … appeared in five games … had one rushing attempt, a five-yard run against Lake Erie on 10/28 … returned a kickoff for 17 yards against Northwood on 9/28. 2022: Appeared in three contests as a special teams player for the Chargers … 2021: Did not see game action…twice named Hillsdale Offensive Scout Team Player of the Week for the week of the Game against Michigan Tech (Sept. 4) and the week of the America’s Crossroads Bowl (Dec. 4)…. 2020-21: Did not see game action…named Hillsdale Offensive Scout Team Player of the Week for the week of the game against Findlay (March 13).
High School and Personal
Starting running back on a Cassopolis Ross Beatty (MI) squad that went 22-2 in his two years on the varsity, won two Southwest-10 conference titles and reached the MHSAA Division 7 semifinal in 2018…was first team All-Southwest-10 in both 2018 and 2019 and earned Academic All-State honors in 2019 from the MHSFCA…finished with 1,402 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns on 9.6 yards per carry for his high school career…member of National Honor Society, maintained a 4.0 GPA in high school and was salutatorian in his high school graduation class…parents are Chad and Tammy Gardner… has one brother Reese … his father Chad played football at Hope College … a Kinesiology major.
