Sports Medicine Camps

Sports Medicine Camps

Each summer, the athletic programs at the University of Virginia offer various sports camps for male and female athletes between the ages of 7 and 17. The Sports Medicine Department is responsible for providing medical care for athletes participating in these camps. Paid positions are available for camps one to six calendar days long, held in June, July, and August.

Applicants must have current First Aid and CPR certification. Prior to employment, proof of eligibility to work in the Commonwealth of Virginia will be required, as will participation in a computer based HIPAA compliance course.

Individuals will work under the supervision of certified athletic trainers and gain on-field experience in a challenging environment. Summer camp athletic training services are coordinated out of the same facility as University of Virginia varsity athletics, providing the opportunity to interact with the Sports Medicine department’s extremely knowledgeable faculty and staff.

Compensation depends on duration of each camp and credential held by camp staff. In some cases, overnight positions are available. Meals are provided at residential dining facilities according to the camp dining schedule. A limited amount of camp apparel is provided; all attire should be compliant with the departmental dress code, which prohibits open-toed shoes, jeans, gym shorts and sweats.
